WHAT IS SAINT-JOSEPH?
Saint-Joseph is a village in the Northern Rhone Valley. Here, all red wines produced are made from the Syrah grape.
WHAT DOES LES 7 LIEUX MEAN?
This is the name that Domaine des Amphores have given to the wine. It takes the name from the seven plots of Syrah that it’s harvested from.
TASTING NOTES:
This Saint-Joseph is wonderful. It’s fresh, it’s herbal and it’s got an abundance of black cherry notes on the palate. The vines have an average age of 50 years, making the juice wonderfully concentrated. This gives the bouquet and taste wonderful rich strength. It’s ages in oak for 10 months, rounding out the texture and giving it sweet spice on the nose and paate. If you’re wanting a rich and elegant fine wine then this is for you.
FOOD PAIRING:
I’m going to go traditional with this. Beef wellington
