If you’re wanting a rich, yet balanced and fruity wine then Gustavete el Mudo Monastrell from Alicante DO is for you!
The Monastrell grape variety is perhaps best known as Mourvèdre due to it being a component of many a Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It has been farmed in Spanish vineyards for over 500 years, particularly close to the east coast. Alicante DO is situated on the Costa Blanca near the famous tourist resort town of Benidorm and it experiences a wonderful Mediterranean climate, perfect for producing rich and full-bodied red wines.
This is a rich, fruit-driven example of Monastrell with fabulous notes of blackberry and black cherry. It spent six months ageing in oak, which imparts savoury notes of oak, black pep
per and tobacco.
At 14.5% this wine is a whopper and will pair perfectly with hearty red meat dishes. The traditional dish of Tombot Valencia, a lamb-based dish.
