Back in April 2024 I had the pleasure of going to Vinitaly in Verona, Italy. If you follow our socials then you’ll have undoubtedly seen my posts. I had the pleasure of meeting my good friend Marco Cabrelli, an importer and restaurateur from Manchester. He introduced me to his friend (and now my friend) Giulio Rossello. Most importantly, he introduced me to Giulio’s wines. They were fabulous!
Fast-forward to July and we have just received our first shipment of Rossello wines, including this amazing Gavi di Gavi.
WHAT IS GAVI DI GAVI?
Gavi di Gavi is a white wine made from Cortese grapes that were grown in/around the town of Gavi. The town of Gavi is located in Piedmont, in the North of Italy. This area is synonymous with good quality, crisp and mineral driven white wines, along with big high quality reds such as Barolo.
WHAT DOES ROSSELLO GAVI DI GAVI TASTE LIKE?
Dry and crisp. Beautiful notes of lemon will leap out at you, intertwined with mineral notes, which make for a nice and complex white wine. This is for fans of Chablis or Pinot Grigio, essentially for fans of refreshing wines of good quality.
FOOD PAIRING:
Quite simple. I’d have this with antipasti. Olives, sundried tomatoes, artichokes, soft cheeses.
