So, this can be quite complicated. There’s a lot of words in the title of this wine, so let me simplify it.
Terres Secretes: The producer (Literal translation is ‘secret lands’)
Macon Verzé: The appellation. Macon Verzé is a sub-region within the Maconnais and the wines comes from the Village of Verzé. All the white wines from this area are made from Chardonnay.
Croix Jarrier: This is the name of the vineyard. All the grapes for this wine were harvested from the Croix Jarrier vineyard, which is made up of west facing hills made up of limestone soil.
See! reading wine labels is easy
This wine is simply wonderful. If you’re wanting fresh, well-made Chardonnay then Terres Secretes Macon-Verze is for you. The warm climate in the Macon brings out more tropical notes, but the limestone soil in which the vines are grown in helps bring out flinty and lovely chalky textures/flavours to the wine.
Enjoy this exquisite wine with scallops cooked in butter. Only the best food with the best wine.
