Lightfoot & Wolfville Fauna
Fauna is a fruit-driven red wine, made with a blend of grapes you may not have ever come across. It’s a blend of Leon Millot, Marquette, Petite Pearl, Marechal Foch and Frontenac Noir. These are hybrid grapes that respond well to cool climate regions. The result is a wine with a bright, berried lushness and a lightness in structure indicative of the ultra cool-climate in Nova Scotia. A partial carbonic maceration contributes amplified fruit flavours, a smooth, velvety texture and immediate drinkability.
It oozes flavours of juicy berries like strawberries and raspberries, with savoury earthy notes on the nose; brambleberry jam, cherry cola and liquorice root. Medium-bodied, fresh and bright, with dark fruit flavours and light tannins.
