Chateau Gabelot Bordeaux really punches above its classification and price point. It’s an approachable Bordeaux, easy to drink but also offers a lot of complexity. It’s a wonderful blend of Merlot, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, and you can pick out each with every sip.
This wine is medium-bodied. On the nose, you’re hit with wonderful red fruit and slight inkiness to it. Then you’re hit with herbal notes from the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab Franc.
On the palate, you get a wonderful silky texture. The tannins are subtle and they gently coat the mouth, leading to a fantastic, long finish.
Winter is coming. This means that we are allowed to eat hearty comfort food whenever we want, so we would recommend this with a lovely shepherd’s pie.
