Sangele Ursului is a wonderful late-harvest red from Romania. It’s youthful and full of bright red fruit flavours. The late-harvest aspect helps lets sugar concentrate in the grapes, therefore making it sweeter. This by no means is a dessert wine, it’s more medium-dry, meaning you can taste the fact it is sweeter than a normal red but it won’t be cloying. You could even chill this for a little bit.
This is the kind of red wine to try if you don’t like reds. Also, if you’re into Ruby Port and want to try something similar in style but less alcoholic then this is one for you.
I’m not kidding, we paired Sangele Ursului with a mildly spiced vegetable samosa and it was banging. 12% alcohol, combined with the slightly sweeter taste and the hints of spice worked perfectly.
