I’m extremely excited to be stocking Tr3smano Proventus. Not only is it a brilliant wine, I happen to know one of the owners ‘Pedro’. I visited their amazing winery back in April, through my very good friend Nicola Thornton. Here, we went on a full tour of the winery, tried their whole range, did barrel tastings and then did a tapas tour of Valladolid. Sometimes, my life is very good.
It’s so nice to be able to introduce some Tr3smano wine to you wonderful folk. Without further ado, here’s the information you need.
WHAT IS PROVENTUS 2019?
This is a wine made from Tinta del Pais (aka Tempranillo). It’s from Ribera del Duero, which is in my opinion, the best area for red wine production in Spain. A bold claim, I know. I just love it. It’s rich, intense and yet very elegant.
TASTING NOTES:
A very round and balanced Ribera del Duero. With the freshness of the fruit and a light touch of barrel aging (new French and American oak). I chose to purchase the 2019 because although it has all the intensity you would want from a Ribera wine, it’s got youth on it’s side, so there’s a beautiful freshness to it and lovely hints of red fruit.
FOOD PAIRING:
This wine lends itself brilliantly to Lamb. We were drinking it chilled with a traditional lamb dish from Ribera del Duero when we were over there. However, a nice and simple roast joint of lamb with some whites asparagus (when it’s in season) would be perfect.
