Botas de Barro (literal translation ‘Dirty Boots’) is a wonderful brand from Spanish Palate – A great company producing wonderful wines from all over Spain. For those customers based in South Yorkshire, you’ll be interested to find out that the founder of Spanish Palate is called Nicola Thornton and she is originally from Wickersley, Rotherham!
When we tried these wines at a recent tasting we were really impressed by them and it was only after we’d sampled them that we found out they were produced by a Yorkshire talent.
What can you expect from Botas de Barro Rueda? Well, Rueda is without doubt one of Spain ́s best white wine regions thanks to its indigenous grape, Verdejo. The region produces fresh wines with good acidity and an incredible aromatic intensity.
With this in mind, expect a crisp, fresh and extremely aromatic dry white that expresses all the character and elegance of the Rueda region. This is a young wine, with a light straw colour and slight green hints. On the palate, it is intense, and bright with good well balanced acidity. There’s no oak in this wine, which helps it retain it’s pure varietal fruity identity.
Pair Botas de Barro 2021 Rueda with beer battered fish. The acidity will cut through the batter.
