IL Volpetto Chianti DOCG

ChiantI DOCG is situated in the province of Florence, Tuscany. Here, the rich sun helps the Sangiovese grape thrive. This is the main grape used in Chianti and must make up at least 80% of the wine. Il Volpetto Chianti has a small percentage of the Canaiolo grape to complete the blend.

The grapes for this lovely wine were harvested between the end of September and mid-October. They were fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 25°C and lasts for 12 days. After the fermentation, the juice is left in contact with the skins for 8 –10 days. This extracts colour from the skins and gives it a wonderful ruby/cherry colour

Il Volpetto Chianti has a wonderful nose. Initially there are notes of violet, blackberries and cherries. Upon taste there is a lovely acidity that is well-integrated with soft tannins and dark fruit flavours such as blackberries, plums and blackcurrants.

All in all, this is a lovely young Chianti and it’s best to be served with a nice crispy pepperoni pizza. Winner!
