Ventisquero are an amazing producer based in Chile. I’ve stocked bits of their portfolio for years but recently had the pleasure of meeting their winemaker Filipe at a tasting in London. I was astounded at the sheer quality of his wines and we instantly shared a connection regarding our whole approach to the wine industry. Also, we got a bit drunk!
Amidst our chats about wine philosophy, he introduced me to his Reserva Merlot and I absolutely loved it.
TASTING NOTES:
Ventisquero Reserva Merlot is ruby red with violet hues. The bouquet is complex and spicy, combining a range of diverse aromas such as plums, black pepper, cinnamon, hints of vanilla and cacao. The wine is medium-boded, with decent structure behind it and drinks way too easily.
FOOD PAIRING:
The wine is quite universal and it can lend itself to many different food pairings. Personally, I think this would go well with a chicken and mushroom risotto.
