Benjamin Bridge Tidal Bay
WHAT IS TIDAL BAY?
Tidal Bay wine is unique to Nova Scotia, Canada. It’s their appellation wine. This means that it can only be produced in Nova Scotia and has to follow strict regulations and they can only use permitted grapes.
This also has a sentimental element for me too because I got my first job in the wine industry in Nova Scotia, so it has a huge place in my heart. While I was out there working, In recent years, I've got to know the team at Benjamin Bridge and visited on a number of occasions. It gives me great pleasure to be able to stock their wines.
WHO ARE BENJAMIN BRIDGE?
Over two and a half decades, Benjamin Bridge has distinguished itself as Canada's premier sparkling wine house. In 1999, it all started as a labour of love with Nova Scotian entrepreneurs Gerry McConnell and the late Dara Gordon.
As life partners, they shared a commitment to rural living and a vision for the sustainable and responsible growth of their community by producing the highest quality wines from grapes farmed along the Bay of Fundy. Inspired by the early grape growers and winemakers in the region, Gerry and Dara invested in years of research to discover whether region-defining wines could be produced in the Gaspereau Valley. With expertise from Canada and the world’s top oenologists, led by its chief innovator and head winemaker, Jean-Benoit Deslauriers, Benjamin Bridge has been unwavering in the singular pursuit of reflecting its precise set of growing conditions as transparently as possible.
WHAT DOES TIDAL BAY TASTE LIKE?
Tidal Bay wine is the ultimate refreshing drop. Due to the cool climate in Nova Scotia, the wine is aromatic and high in acidity.
On the nose, hints of lime and sea breeze set the stage for zesty citrus undertones. On the palate, this Tidal Bay is full of character and purity, with a wide variety of meadow botanicals lifted by citrus and elderflower aromas. The lengthy finish prolongs the wine’s tension and textural
complexity.
