Le Professeur Marselan
Want to try something new? Yes? Well, Le Professeur Marselan is what you need!
This is an exciting wine, recently introduced to the UK market. It's made with the Marselan grape and the name/cover pays tribute to Paul Truel, the 'ampelographer' who created the grape.
WHAT IS MARSELAN?
Marselan is a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. It was created in 1961 near the town of Marseillan, which is where it takes it's name from.
TASTING NOTES:
Dark and intense ruby with purple hues in the glass. The nose is perfectly spiced with hints of black pepper and violet with aromas of blackberry and cassis. This wine offers a rich and dense mouth feel, followed by concentrated flavours. The finish is long and juicy with subtle tannins.
Le Professeur Marselan didn't see any oak ageing, it was all stainless steel on it's fine lees. With this in mind, expect a more fruity forward wine.

FOOD PAIRING:
Marselan is quite versatile because it can stand up to rich foods. However, with Le Professeur I would recommend a simple ratatouille. The fruit forward nature of this won't overpower the vegetables and will make a nice rustic pairing.
