Pocas Coroa d'Ouro Tinto
This is a banging red from our friends at Pocas. You may be familiar with them, as we also stock their incredible Vermouth. We're huge fans of Pocas and their wines, and team Grape Kitchen even visited their premises in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, back in March, where they made us feel incredibly welcome and let us try some of their fabulous wines.
WHAT'S COROA D'OURO?
Coroa d'Ouro Tinto is a blend of several key Portuguese red grapes which are all normally used for Port wine production. The grapes are selected in the field and harvested manually from steep terraced vineyard plots in the Upper Douro river basin. After fermentation, the wine is finished in French oak and tank on lees, with 20% second year French oak. After 6 months the wine is racked into tank for settling before filtration and bottling.
TASTING NOTES:
Ruby red in colour, with an intense dark core. On the nose you get clean notes of dark berries, with layers of fresh cherry and a wonderfully crunchy, classy baked cherry pie. The palate is balanced with fresh acidity and refined brooding power.... Full-bodied, aromatic and elegant.
