Villa Sandi Pinot Grigio

Villa Sandi Pinot Grigio will flip your opinion on this grape. Pinot Grigio is a misunderstood grape. We see so much of it in the UK and it's normally on the cheaper side of the shelf (especially in supermarkets) but there can be good Pinot. Villa Sandi Pinot Grigio is more than good Pinot. It's a great Pinot.

WINEMAKING:

There's a bit more attention to detail with Villa Sandi Pinot Grigio in the winemaking process. Typically, for lower grade Pinots they can be released within a few months since the grapes are harvested. Villa Sandi hold the release back until the spring after harvest, giving it at least six months to settle down.

The wine also benefits from some lees ageing and partial malolactic fermentation, to add complexity, structure to the wine and also reduce the acidity in it. Basically, it's a more substantial Pinot Grigio with body and more character.

TASTING NOTES:

Typically, Pinot Grigio has notes of citrus and nothing more. Villa Sandi Pinot Grigio has much more. Expect light stone fruit notes, floral hints and wonderful notes of lemon with a mineral core running through the wine leading to a crisp finish.
