Royal Oporto Tawny Port

Back in September, I had the pleasure of meeting a man called Thiago. Thiago is a member of the Real Compania Velha family. This family produce Royal Oporto, an absolutely stunning range of Ports. While my friend and I spoke to Thiago, we happily made our way through his family’s range of fortified wines. They were wonderful.
 
The Royal Oporto Tawny is composed by a blend of differently dated Ports, which are rigorously selected and aged in oak vats, resulting in an average of 4 years. So this is a young Tawny Port.
 
TASTING NOTES:
 
It offers immense complexity of ripe red fruit notes and oaky scents. Its refined strong dry fruit flavours are evidence of its ageing in oak, which are compensated by a balanced sweetness and a long finish.
 
Essentially, if you're into slightly nuttier ports with a bit more complexity then this tawny is what you need!
